Ulla began painting in New York City after moving there from Germany 30 odd years ago. In the 1980s she studied at the New York Art Students’ League, where she was greatly influenced by teacher, William Scharf, a former studio assistant and friend of Mark Rothko. In 1992 Ulla was part of a group show with the theme “New York” at Cornell Medical Center Library in NYC where my painting ‘Manhattan Tableau’ was exhibited. Oils are her preferred painting medium
